John Wardlaw, General

The youngest of Captain William Wardlaw and Elizabeth Balfour’s sons, John opted for a military career. After the male heirs on the Balfour side had all died, their sister Elizabeth inherited the estate and passed it to her second child, Robert, who adopted the double name Wardlaw-Ramsay. John was provided for, and married the Hon Anne Blake, daughter of Viscount Blake in 1812.
