Lindsday girls at Tillicoultry House

George Linsday sent his daughters to stay with his sister Anne.  The climate in Calcutta was affecting their health, so they sailed back to Scotland with their mother. This was a long and exhausting journey, and this sketch shows them, still a bit shy and reserved.  Anne may well have sent a more finished drawing to her brother. The girls were given a warm welcome and became much loved family members. They were home educated.
