William’s humorous sketches

The family albums contain a few such sketches by the young William, which were evidently prized. They show an eye for a humorous situation, and cast some light on his affective state. This lively scene, of an organ grinder’s monkey making a bid for freedom, may even have been spotted in Tillicoultry!
